In the new structure, the overlength page charge will be $100 USD per page starting on page 2, with the reference- only page being free. This means that in 2019, the page charge for a typical 5-page AWPL letter will amount to $300 USD.

AWPL Introduces a Free Reference Page (February 2018)

References are now excluded from the page count.
1) The technical content is still limited to 4 pages. This limit will be strictly enforced to keep the letters concise and to the point, in the original spirit of AWPL.
2) It is now acceptable that the reference list extends to a 5th page. This will provide sufficient space for thorough referencing without competing with technical content.
3) The authors will not be charged for the last page of their article if it contains only references.

Corresponding author information

IEEE Publications have recently (August 2016) decided to explicitly state the corresponding author on the first page of all future journal articles:

"All IEEE publications will start indicating the corresponding author on the first page of each article. Some publications already have a standard style to display this information; for those that don't we will include the information at the end of the first footnote in italics as outlined in the examples below. IEEE Staff will implement this requirement so there is nothing you need to do.

Manuscript received April 27, 2012; revised September 18, 2012; accepted July 25, 2013. Date of current version September 09, 2013. This work was supported by the UEFISCSU under Grant PN-II 65/01.10.2007 and Grant PN-II 331/01.10.2007. Including this information will improve the accuracy of our articles' metadata in indexes such as Thomson Reuters' Web of Science. IEEE Staff will start including corresponding author information on newly accepted articles that are sent to production. Older articles will not be updated retroactively."

As stated above, this information will be included by IEEE Staff, based on the information provided in the Maunscript CentralZ submission process. However, should you wish to include it yourself in your submitted paper (for example, to estimate the number of pages accurately), please ensure it is accurate and matches the information provided in Manuscript Central.

ORCID - starting July 2016

From July, all IEEE journals will require an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) for all authors. ORCIDs enable accurate attribution and improved discoverability of an author’s published work. The author will need a registered ORCID in order to submit a manuscript or review a proof in this journal.

Follow these steps to link a ScholarOne account to a registered ORCID:

  • Login to ScholarOne and click on your name in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Click "E-mail / Name" in the dropdown menu.
  • In the ORCID section at the top of the page, click the appropriate link to either register for a new ORCID or associate the account with an existing ORCID.
  • A new page will open to create and/or validate your ORCID. Once the validation is complete, the new page will close and you will return to ScholarOne.
  • Save the changes to your ScholarOne user account.

Authors who do not have an ORCID in their ScholarOne user account will be prompted to provide one during submission.
